Measure the Height of a Building in a Stereo-Enabled Collection

  1. Click on the “Line” tool.
  2. Go to the “Tool Inspector”
  3. Click Measurement icon
  4. Check “Insert Elevation/Height”
  5. If the tool is not already activated, click anywhere in the view window to activate the tool.
  6. Move the cursor to a point near the building; a point on the ground that you can see that you are at the right elevation.
  7. You can adjust the cursor’s elevation using:
    • The “Auto Stereo Adjust”
    • [F1] Move Elevation Down
    • [F2] Move Elevation Up
    • [Ctrl + Mouse Wheel] Press and hold the mouse button and raise the elevation of the cursor until you reach the top of the building.
  8. Release the mouse button to capture the end point of the line.
  9. Now you’ll see the height of that line which is the height of the building.
  10. Note that there is no problem when changing the X and Y coordinates between the two points of the line; they do not affect the height and thus insignificant in this case.
  11. You can also see the height in the “Measure View” widget. (Even if you did not select the “Insert elevation/height” in the “Tool Inspector”).

Place the Cursor on the Ground in a Stereo-Enabled Collection

  • If the current model is associated with a DEM, use “Move cursor to Dem surface, [Ctrl + F].
  • Use the “Auto Stereo Adjust” [F6] on a point that is on the ground (not the top of a building for example).
  • Depending on the model and the location desired, sometimes it is possible to see if you are on the ground. In this case you can manually adjust the cursor’s elevation using:
    • [F1] Move Elevation Down
    • [F2] Move Elevation Up
    • [Ctrl + Mouse Wheel] to move up or down

Draw a Vector Across Multiple Models in the View Window

Press and hold the [Space Bar] on your keyboard while capturing the vector. This will temporarily switch to Panning mode without exiting Capture mode. Pan until you reach your destination then release the [Space Bar] to continue capturing.

Note: If you are using the “Fixed Cursor” mode (set in Preferences), then there is no need for this feature.

Navigation Options in MyGeoPlayer

The user has the option between variable and fixed cursor modes. Each of these modes has individual behaviors depending on user preferences.
