Hennie is employed as a geotechnical engineer at Aurecon, where he has gained experience in the fields of foundation and geotechnical engineering as well as site supervision, designs and project management in the fields of civil and structural engineering. His responsibilities have entailed geotechnical investigations; foundation design for single- and multi-storey buildings, including footings, piles and soil and concrete rafts; slope stability analyses; lateral support design and numerical modelling analyses using finite element modelling (FEM) software packages. Hennie obtained a Master of Engineering: Geotechnical from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 2013, after completing his Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in 2010 and his Bachelor's degree in 2008. He is registered as a candidate engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and is an associate member of South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE). He is also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society (GKIHS).
