Geohidra is a Venezuelan company founded 37 years ago, which, among others, offers specialized services on Geotechnical and Geophysical studies, with particular emphasis on shallow waters studies (piers, long spam bridges, etc.) and offshore areas. Geohidra owns and operates a Geotechnical exploration vessel (Geoexplorer), which is able to carry out undisturbed wireline sampling, CPTU testing, downhole Geophysical tests, and rock coring, all this down to 200 m of depths. The company experience covers Geotechnical studies Offshore Venezuela for PDVSA, Cardon IV, (JV Repsol / ENI), Teikoku, BP, Chevron, Gazprom and recently in the last 2 years, the Geoexplorer successfully completed works in Caribbean waters (for Ecopetrol and Repsol in Colombia), the Pacific (for Pacific Energy in Peru) and in the Gulf of Mexico (Hokchi). In addition Geohidra owns and operates a Jackup (self-elevating barge) with an integral hull with legs up to 30 m (La Garza) that allows efficient operation in shallow waters. This Jackup is particularly useful for Geotechnical exploration works on docks and long spam bridges. In the years 2002-2003 Geohidra carried out Geotechnical exploration and the verification of design foundations for the Second Bridge over the Rio Orinoco in Venezuela. In 2006-2007 the exploration for the Third Bridge over the Orinoco River with approximately 9000 m of Geotechnical survey, design of piles foundations and dynamic load tests, were accomplished. Finally in the years 2013-2014 the company carried out the Geotechnical exploration for the second bridge over the Maracaibo Lake. In this work, approximately 8000 m were executed among all soundings, rock coring, CPTU testing, downhole Geophysical surveys. A total of four Jackups were mobilized.
