The mission of the YMPG is to engage the next generation of geotechnical engineers in the ISSMGE. This is accomplished through mobilising students and younger members from across the world to share knowledge and ideas, to connect with leaders in the field, and to create opportunities for the international geotechnical community.

The YMPG core committee includes six members representing the regions of ISSMGE. The Chair of the YMPG is appointed by the ISSMGE Board. The YMPG was first initiated by Prof. Jean-Louis Briaud during his presidency and has been continued by President Roger Frank. We have a large number of initiatives going on at any one time across each team of the YMPG committee.
