Dr. Gouw is a senior geotechnical consultant, practicing particularly in Indonesia. He obtained his Master degree from AIT, Bangkok, Thailand, and his Doctorate degree from Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung, Indonesia. Both in geotechnical engineering.
Since late 1984, he has been working actively in the field of geotechnical engineering, starting from site engineer to becoming geotechnical consultant seven years later. He involves in the design and execution of geotechnical investigation, soil instrumentation, deep foundation and excavation for high rise buildings, load tests (Static and PDA), pile integrity testing (PIT), sonic logging integrity test, vibration monitoring, slope stabilization, ground anchors, pumping test, dewatering, micropiles, tunnelling and ground improvement works, e.g. dynamic compaction, vertical drain, vacuum preloading, vibro-compaction, geosynthetic and grouting. The jobs cover more than 285 projects in Indonesia, Singapore and Srilanka.
He also serves as lecturer in universities since early 1985. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the post graduate division of Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Bandung, Indonesia.
Dr. Gouw is an active member of Indonesian Geotechnical Engineers Association (HATTI) and life member of Southeast Asian Geotechnical Society (SEAGS). He was the past president of Indonesia Chapter of International Geosynthetics Society for the period of 2007 - 2020
He also involved the preparation of Indonesian National Standard for geotechnics (SNI 8460:2017).
He has written 94 conferences and journal papers.
