His expertise is in ensuring quality in all aspects of engineering works. He has been actively involved in quality improvement of acquisition of Site Investigation information as all geotechnical designs are based on this information.
He has produced numerous training materials and given papers and made presentations towards improving slope construction practices and improvement of Site Investigation practices. He has carried out quality controls of concrete for high-rise structures, quality control of large earthwork sites and numerous nondestructive testing of concrete structures and piles.
Towards improvement of Site Investigation Practices, he has also:
• Served as deputy chairperson on CIDB committee for Improvement of Site Investigation Practices
• Deputy chair person for Development of Skill Standards for Site Investigation for contactors’ personnel including Master Driller, Driller and Drill hands based on Australians skill standards under CIDB. (1st Edition)

• Chaired the Working group under CIDB for development of the National Code of Practice for Site Investigation, MS 2038:2006
• Served on the Technical committee under CIDB for Geotechnical Works towards development of Geotechnical Standards namely Codes of Practices for:
Foundation : MS 1756 :2005
Earthworks : MS 1754 : 2004
Laboratory Testing of soils : MS1056 :2005
• Development of standard Site Investigation Specifications and Site Investigation Conditions of Contract under CIDB
• Shaik has also produced numerous training/ awareness materials using Multimedia as tools.
Earthwork Practice : Video using animations and field movies, for good practice awareness and training, focusing on presently practiced bad Earthwork methods and how to improve Earthwork Practices. Its effects on environment and how considerable savings can be obtained in project costs and safety can be enhanced.
Site Investigation : Various training material describing good and bad practices and presentations using animations, on site movies, voice-overs and text..
Slope Maintenance : Training manual on CD using Text, voice-overs, animations and actual site movies.
Slope Awareness video prepared for JKR for public display describing slope related issues, contributing factors and what constitutes good practice from design of slope to construction and maintenance of slopes.
Slope Database : Indexed and fully searchable database for some 250 institutions under Ministry of Education affected by slope related issues, including distress descriptions and mitigation measures.
Slope Performa Training Modules Interactive Training. Self training text based document modules with relevant slope related items explained using text explanation followed by animations and videos. Developed as self training modules for site staff involved in cataloging man-made slopes for JKR.
