    • Under Support to the Health Sector Programme (S2HSP) of GIZ, which is executed by the Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal, Dr. Pathak serves as Solid Waste Management Consultant and will provide the technical assistance to the Nilkantha Municipality and Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City to design, develop and implement the integrated waste management system including healthcare waste to minimize its adverse effect in public health and environment. As value chain Specialist/SWM Specialist in Local and Provincial Economic Development (LPED) project, Dr. Pathak conducts value chain analysis of the waste sector of Dhangadhi SMC, develops a joint action plan (together with the public and private sector) of sustainable solid waste management, and develop a business model (s).
      Moreover, Dr. Pathak provided
      (i) technical support and expert advisory in conceptual planning, detail engineering design/drawings, cost estimate and supervision of construction and refurbishment of healthcare waste management facilities and WASH infrastructure requirements at 13 hub hospitals in Nepal.
      (ii) Design common treatment facility (CTF) and provide advisory support for detail engineering drawings, cost estimate and preparation of BOQ for the healthcare waste from HCFs of Nepalgunj SMPC, Nepal

    • In this KfW financed hospital project, Dr. Pathak is responsible for
      • • Coordinate and supervise the activities of all assigned project staff as well as subcontractors and STEs in accordance with the project document agreed between KfW and the MoHP,
      • Critically review the reports submitted by all subcontractors and STEs for quality control,
      • Review existing national policy, strategy and guidelines related to Hospital Waste Management in Nepal and abroad
      • Conduct field visits to observe current HCWM practices in target facilities (FW: Dadeldhura SRH and Seti ZH, in MW: Bardiya DH and Bheri ZH) and to lead discussions with respective municipal administrations to ensure maximum support from local management structures for HCWM initiatives and to understand local opportunities and limitations to be taken into account when elaborating solutions later on.
      • Develop Hospital Waste Management Concept and lead the discussions with DoHS, STEs, project staff, partner organizations and target facilities on suitable HCWM approaches and technology choices for target facilities.
      • Prepare a list of equipment needed to implement WM concept with estimated cost and infrastructure requirements for each facility. Equipment should include trolley, waste bins for proper separation of wastes, safety items (gloves, boots, etc.)
      • Prepare design, specification, cost estimation and BOQ of integrated health care waste management facilities and equipment as required
      • Ensure proper installation of waste management equipment in 3 sub-regional, hospitals various district and B3 Hospitals.
      • Coordinate with GIZ, WHO and IMCCR for the long-term activities
