• Provide effective, accurate and timely reports to line management on team and/ or group activities;
• Responsible for timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications or drawings;
• Support all aspects of tunnelling activities, ranging from no-dig micro tunnels through to large scale road and rail infrastructure tunnels undertaken by the team;
• Support all aspects of other tunnelling services, including hard and soft ground tunnelling and the design of ground treatment systems undertaken by the team;
• Provide specialist skills which include numerical modelling of the geotechnical structures, using continuous and discontinuous methods, blast design, soil/ rock mass classification, rock characterization, stability analysis, design of soil/ rock reinforcement and support, using both deterministic and probabilistic methods;
• Provide specialist skills which include geotechnical/ geomechanical numerical modelling using FLAC, PHASE, SLOPE/ W (GEO-SLOPE) – for the following areas: Underground Tunnelling, including groundwater; Cut-and-Cover methods; Piled foundations/ Embankments; Footings; Slope stability analysis; Material testing; Non-linear behaviour of geologic materials.
• Offer further skills which comprise experience in Environmental Impact Assessments of infrastructure projects, and design of Geotechnical and Civil Engineering structures, including groundwater modelling;
• Responsible for management of preliminary property protection (settlement) studies, Tunnelling Methodology Report, cost estimates, feasibility studies, construction methods and coordination with systems and station consultants;
• Involved in detailed design calculations and drawings for tunnel main bore and potential involvement in drawing productions, design feasibilities and interfaces between tunnels, shafts and other underground spaces;
• Involved in designing sprayed concrete lining, canopy tubes/ spile canopy support, face support measures, lining footings, cross passage and niche junctions;
• Become integral to the division's operations and contribute to the business and the team's technical development;
• Assist in the management of new graduate engineers supporting their development and capability;
• Responsible for helping to organise, plan and execute many aspects of the assessment program including site testing and inspection, analysis, classification and reporting.
