Lead geotechnical monitoring team to:
- Safely operate and maintain a diverse range of monitoring systems that provide multiple layers of defense against uncontrolled ground failure events. Systems comprise site-wide InSAR, 4 ArcSAR, 1 MSR RAR and 2 RockSpot radars with 24-7 monitoring through external provider and a robust internal TARP linked to mine dispatch with hazard specific evacuation plans.
- Analyze and interpret monitoring results to identify new, emerging or reactivating threats involving both short-term (tactical) monitoring as well as long-term (strategic) monitoring. Work collaboratively with mine operations to manage ground failure risk and work safely under multiple-bench to inter-ramp scale slope instabilities by analyzing and communicating GbSAR, GbRAR and InSAR deformation trend behavior effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Validate monitoring data with field inspections for physical signs of ground disturbance.
- Integrate hydrogeological and geotechnical monitoring data analysis in order to predict long-term geotechnical events that could affect mining operations.
- Mentor junior engineers and develop and implement safe operating procedures in Spanish & English to enable the team and the workforce to operate safely in the mine with a thorough understanding of geotechnical risk, particularly associated with rock fall and brittle wedge failure.
