Specialises in all aspects of thermal environment controls on marine. landfall and terrestrial HV cable design including:
Onshore and offshore testing for thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and other associated parameters
Statistical analysis and cross-correlation with ground models for defining TR values
Understanding and sourcing ambient temperature time-series at depth (marine and terrestrial)
Seabed mobility
Working directly with electrical engineers to implement knowledge of above for steady state and dynamic ratings
Analysis of Distributed Temperature Sensing data for both condition monitoring (including depth of cover proxies / scour evolution) and informing future cable design by understanding actual temperature performance of active cable systems
