Engr. Mohammad Khairul Islam Sohag has been specializing in the areas of Structural
Engineering, Contraction & Construction, and Supervising numerous building and nonbuilding
projects countrywide. He also performed Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)
and Electro-Mechanical related machinery, which involve foundation setup with proper
anchorage and troubleshooting the structural stability according to design. Since 2009 he
has accumulated more than thirteen (15+) years of experience in Civil Engineering
Design, Construction, and Project Implementation.
He has completed his bachelor’s degree course in Civil Engineering from The University of
Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology. He feels that qualified professionals should
be equipped with both industrial experience and academic advancement.
In 2009, He embarked on his profession working as a structural engineer supervisor with
several consultancy firms under Structural Design Associates, where his duties include RCC
and Steel Building Design, Preparation of construction documentation as per final approved
structural drawing, and site supervision.
In 2012, he embarked on CME Design Engineer Profession at the world's top leading
multination company Huawei Technologies (BD) Pvt. Ltd as an engineer with Network
Integration Service Department Under his Chinese Supervisor Mr. Zhang Boo Rang. The
company is working on setting up 2G, 3G, 4G & 5G networks in collaboration with Bangladesh
Telecommunication Companies Limited. His major duties are to provide technical support for
pre-bidding & bidding work. Checking site acquisition report and feasibility of existing
structure. Preparing and Checking the BOQ for CME-related works. Preparing specifications
for the project based on BOQ and Client requirements. Checking CME design and tower
design. Handle sub-contractor and consultant. Proper communication with the clients.
Provide technical advice on appropriate design, material, and construction techniques to the
project team.
In 2014, he joined another renowned multinational company Bureau Veritas (BD) Limited are
best the world leader in laboratory testing, inspection, and certification services. Created in
1828, the Group has 80,000 employees located in more than 1,600 offices and laboratories
around the globe. There, his duty was preliminary structural assessment to be performed
based on the requirements of code BNBC-2006, IBC, ACI, ASTM and reported as per
Alliance/Accord/Bureau Veritas protocol. Assessment to be conducted with professionalism
and competency meeting and exceeding the requirement of Alliance/Accord and Bureau
Veritas. Perform the structural assessment and prepare the report with full responsibility and
attention to the details, so that the conclusions are credible and defensible. Based on the
assessment protocol, produce a SIAR report, QC other reports, and upload the report on the
website (FFC) for final review by a third party (such as WSP/ARUP/WALTER P MOORE).
In 2016, he created and registered his company as “Structural Design &
Engineering Assessment” as Consultant, 1st Class contracting, Supplying, Export &
Import under the North City Corporation of Dhaka.
From 2016 to the present, he has been working and completed more than 100 projects and
directly worked with 50+ heavy industries and Ready-Made Garments Factories. During this
tenure, he faces several government projects, semi-government projects, RMG sectors, private
ownership buildings, etc. He already completed lots of challenges during the
implementation of these projects.
