Brief Detail of Er. P. S. Sengupta:
Er. Parthasarathi Sengupta graduated in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, in the year 1979 and thereafter completed his M. Tech in 1981 from the same prestigious institute.
He started his career as an Assistant Engineer and SDO in the Public Health Department, West Bengal Govt. He, thereafter, joined as an Engineer in ITD Cementation India Limited (previously known as Cemindia Company) on 1.10.1982. He has served this company in various capacities and positions and finally retired as Head of the Centralized Design Department of the company on 31.3.2018 as Joint Executive Vice President. His experiences include Design of geotechnical & structural works, Planning, Estimation, Commercial & Contract management, Quality control/ ISO, Handling Joint Venture tenders with reputed foreign companies/ consultants, Monitoring difficult projects, and Contract management
Two very important departments of the company, i.e., Tendering and Design departments, were created under his leadership. He was the nodal person in ISO implementation in his company.
Design works include all kinds of design and design coordination for buildings, Marine structure, Bridges, Highways, Elevated and Underground Metro structures, heavy steel structures, water resources structures, Water Resources Structures, Tunnels and Special Foundation, PHE structures, and Geotechnical design,s including the use of various software.
Served as a member of BIS committees (Geotechnical and Marine structure technical committees)
He published various papers in IGS Conferences, delivered lectures, and gave presentations at many workshops and seminars. He wasan external examiner for M Tech at IIT, Kharagpur. Served as Chairman of Indian Geotechnical Society-Kolkata chapter during 2017-18. He is a life member of Institution of Engineers (India) & Indian Geotechnical Society
