    • Associate professor in geotechnical engineering, responsible for teaching geotechnical design with numerical methods.
      I specialise in computational simulations of soils, granular materials and constitutive modelling. My research focuses on:
      1) numerical Modelling with Finite Element Method and Material Point Method
      2) advancing Material Point Method and applying it to large deformation problems, mainly in geotechnics
      3) thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical behaviour of saturated and unsaturated soils and associated coupling processes and implementation of those into numerical software (currently in-house developed Finite Element Code Thebes)
      4) constitutive modelling of soils and granular materials, in particular influence of clay microstructure on its behaviour, soft soil modelling and THMC modelling of soils
      5) soil improvement, including dynamic compaction and dynamic replacement
      6) modelling soil freezing and thawing, assessing frost susceptibility and mitigation methods for frost susceptible soils
      7) observational method, reducing the cost of construction based on observations during the construction phase
      8) vibrations in the ground and methods to mitigate the vibrations
      9) laboratory testing of soils, triaxial tests, dynamic triaxial tests, oedometric tests
      10) establishing soil parameters based on testing results
