BGC Engineering - Junior Geological/Geotechnical Engineer
BGC Engineering Inc. (BGC) is a Canadian firm providing geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and environmental engineering consulting services to mining, oil and gas, transportation, forestry and municipal clients. Due to our growing international client base, we have challenging opportunities for professionals in any of our Canadian offices. We need highly motivated and talented individuals to join our team. BGC is seeking junior geological or geotechnical engineers . The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, 1-2 years relevant work experience, and a desire to travel and work in remote conditions. Candidates shall possess an undergraduate degree in Civil Geotechnical, Geological, or Mining Engineering. A post-graduate degree in geotechnical engineering is desirable. A fundamental understanding of Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, as well as proven communication skills are essential. Candidates must be eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer. Projects that junior engineers may work on include: • Investigations at mine sites for the design of mining works including: open pits, underground excavations, tailings facilities and building foundations. On-going projects are located in Alaska, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Argentina, and Canada. • Mine reclamation activities, particularly in Alberta’s oilsands, which may include constructed wetlands, soft tailings capping, and alternative tailings management technologies. • Investigations for pipelines geohazards including field investigations, and air photo interpretation. All of these projects will include field work which may consist of drilling, sampling, other geological testing etc. Extended field trips (three to four weeks in duration) may be required.
