Deep excavation

Hi,

i am a bit confused with how to use fixed end enchor in modelling the deep excavation.

1. How do we input the equivalent length for the fixed end anchor? let say the width of excavation is 80m and the depth is 9.0m, internal strutting.

2. How do i interpret the output force? if i input the Lspacing as 1.0m, does the output anchor force is per meter width out of plane direction?

3. anyone else ever did a modelling on 2 level basement before? seriously need some advice.

Dear Liyana,

as far as I understood are using software, you had not written in question. Please read software's manual and you will find the answers.

Dear Liyana,

If you use PLAXIS to solve your problem, please my answers to your questions as follows.

1. If your case is symmetric, only one half side is considered in the analysis.

2. If you double-click the strut, the sturt force is shown in the window. The strut force is in kN/m. In order to get the individual strut forces, the values must be multiplied by the out of plane of plane spacing of the struts.

I hope that my answers can meet your expectation. Should you have further questions, please let me know.

You can find  PLAXIS tutorial and papers in PLAXIS website, or tutorial of the program you used for further information.

Kind regards
