King Saud University - College of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Expansive Soils A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is currently available in the Department of Civil Engineering - College of Engineering at King Saud University, Riyadh Saudi Arabia. The post is funded via Eng. Abdullah Bogshan Endowed Chair in Expansive Soils. Candidate must hold a doctoral degree in geotechnical engineering at the time of appointment and must show a clear potential for creative independent research leading to international recognition. Interest and proven expertise in experimental triaxial testing of unsaturated soils is required, and knowledge in geomaterial constitutive modeling and numerical methods in geomechanics are desirable. The successful candidate must have good written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as being a team player who works with a minimum of supervision. Research will be carried out in various aspects of expansive soils including multi-dimensional swell behavior, molecular interactions between clays and fluids, soil-structure interaction, constitutive modeling, soil treatment, foundation systems. The expected starting date for the position is fall semester 2007 but applications will be accepted until the position has been filled. The applicant will be appointed as a research assistant for a fixed three year term and may be renewable for additional years upon favorable performance reviews. A tax-free salary will be within the range $20000 - $25000 per annum, depending on qualification and experience (Salary can progress to $30000 per annum subject to performance).
