King Saud University - College of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Research Assistant in Geotechnical Engineering Applications are invited for the above post in the Department of Civil Engineering - College of Engineering at King Saud University, Riyadh Saudi Arabia. The post is funded via Eng. Abdullah Bogshan Endowed Chair in Expansive Soils. Candidate must hold a Master Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasize in Geotechnical Engineering. We seek a highly-motivated individual with good mathematical, computational, and technical background for assisting in undertaking theoretical and experimental work in the area of expansive soils. Appropriate knowledge and skills in experimental testing of unsaturated soils are desired. Prospective candidate will principally undertake experimental research in two areas, namely controlled suction triaxial swell tests, and molecular interactions between fluids and clays. The expected starting date for the position is fall semester 2007 but applications will be accepted until the position has been filled. The applicant will be appointed as a research assistant for a fixed three year term and may be renewable for additional years upon favorable performance reviews. A tax-free salary will be within the range $15000 - $20000 per annum, depending on qualification and experience (Salary can progress to $25000 per annum subject to performance).
