Sr. Geotechnical Engineer
Senior Geotechnical Engineer This position would be with one of North America's largest and most respected construction and engineering organizations. The position would be involved with interesting and challenging projects located throughout the United States. Recent projects have included massive substructure work for a large suspension bridge, work on a pier construction, work on an underground tunnel located beneath an active airport taxiway, and an underground commuter rail access point. Responsibilities The Senior Geotechnical Engineer position is responsible to manage and execute engineering assignments. This will require an intimate knowledge of soil mechanics, rock engineering, and geotechnical design as associated with heavy civil construction. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will work on an interdisciplinary team including Structural Engineers, estimators, schedulers and Construction experts to provide advice on construction methodology, geotechnical risk, the design of temporary works, and in selecting and managing outside consultants. The Senior Engineer must be able to work with and train new and younger engineers. This position will be responsible to produce engineering reports and detailed calculation packages summarizing each engineering assessment. Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Civil and/or Geotechnical Engineering required. Current registration as a Professional Engineer required. Masters Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field preferred. Minimum of 10 years of combined geotechnical design and heavy construction experience. Specialty experience in tunneling or dewatering would be desirable. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with individuals at all levels of the organization. Frequent travel to construction sites and satellite offices. There is the possibility of temporary assignments at locations away from the Omaha office. The physical ability to access all areas of a construction site to measure, obtain data, observe operations, test and inspect as required by the design effort.
