weaving and cracking soil
Constructing an earth embankment up to 27 feet high for a new bridge approach. The owner is supplying us with material which meets common borrow spec. The material is moist we are able to compact it and our trucks dont get stuck. The problem is the entire area moves like jello it is weaving and cracking. The soils inspector has met the compaction spec of 95%. Wondering if any one has seen this before and will it stop over time. Will the water disipate and stop moving. My concern is we continue to add lifts of this material and the problem obviously continues.
