The 2016 Purdue Geotechnical Society Workshop and the 14th G.A. Leonards Lecture will take place on Friday, April 15, 2016.
The theme for the workshop is "LEARNING FROM SUCCESSES AND FAILURES IN GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING". It aligns with the subject of the Leonards Lecture on "The Evolving Role of Information in Failure Investigation", which will be given by Professor David Frost of Georgia Tech. In addition to his many contributions to geotechnical research, education and practice, Professor Frost is a leading expert in geotechnical forensics and post-disaster damage assessment. We are thrilled that he has accepted our invitation to give the Leonards Lecture.
The workshop will consist in a full day of technical presentations including two Keynote Lectures by Professor Ellen Rathje of the
University of Texas at Austin, on the role of remote sensing in post-failure reconnaissance, and Mr. Thomas Struewing, Principal
Engineer with ATC Group Services in Indianapolis, on a recently completed complex project of I-69 roadway embankments on soft
foundation soils over Black Ankle Creek Valley, Greene County, Indiana.
Attached is a call for presentations (no proceedings papers will be required) including more detailed information. Please respond to this
call by February 26, 2016. Information can also be found at https://eng.purdue.edu/PGS or by contacting Philippe Bourdeau at [email protected].
