The construction of the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train project depends fundamentally on three aspects: the topographic conditions, the hydrological conditions and the geological-geotechnical conditions. This article shows the process and the results of the geomechanical characterization of a selected site for the construction of the 4.7 km bitunnel, which is part of said Project. After entering the geological condition of the site, the types and the procedure performed to evaluate the support and waterproofing treatments that should be placed in the excavations in the galleries that make up the bitumen for its stability, according to the geomechanical characteristics of materials and the geohydrological conditions that make up the rock mass.
