Discussion Topic : 7th International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference - Abstract Submission Open!

Another reminder about this great conference!

The 7th International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference is scheduled to be held from 10-12 September 2021 in Sydney Australia. This is an amazing conference bringing together young geo-professionals from around the world to present their work. This conference takes place immediately before the International Conference for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, which is the premier event held by the ISSMGE. This international event is held every 4 years and attended by the most prominent geo-professionals globally.

Please see the Call for Abstracts 7iYGEC for more information. All candidates must be nominated by your ISSMGE Member Society! Questions should be sent to your member society or [email protected]. These two conferences are not to be missed! See you in Sydney in 2021.

Says "All candidates must be nominated by your ISSMGE Member Society."  Where is this society? btw,I am from Ethiopia.

ISSMGE Member Society details can be found here: https://www.issmge.org/the-society/member-societies. Henok, it does not look like we have a society in Ethiopia, unfortunately. But you can contact the CTGA and see how they are handling nominations for African countries without a member society: https://www.issmge.org/member-societies/africa/comite-transnational-des-gotechniciens-dafrique

Thank you Lucy.

One more question, can I organize a socitey in Ethiopia? I mean if there is no socitey then we can have one, can't we?

Sergii Tabachnikov

Hallo, Lucy, hallo All.

We have already received confirmation about our article on the main conference.  I also submitted an annotation to the youth conference.  When will these annotations be reviewed?  Only after the annotation deadline?

Lucy Wu

Hi Henok, it is certainly possible to start a Member Society but it is a long endeavor that requires submission of Statues and Bylaws, committed leadership, and vetting by the Board. Each Member Society operates independently and is in charge of its own membership, events, etc. If you have a group of people who are interested in pursuing this, please contact the Secretariat of the ISSMGE and also the VP for Africa. I would encourage you to read the Bylaws for the ISSMGE as well. I can also help you make an introduction if you like. It is not something that can be done before the deadline for this conference.

Hi Sergii, the timeline for the conference submissions and notification of acceptance can be found on the website: http://icsmge2021.org/7iygec/

Abdelrahman Abuserriya

I would like to ask about Sudan membership in ISMGEE and I hear from professors in Sudan that membership of Sudan has suspend due to financial matter with organization, has not it ?

So, we can not participate from Sudan for the previous reason

Hello Lucy,

Concerning the statement on the website:

"You will need to be prepared to contribute. All attendees will be required to prepare a paper and given an oral presentation."

Are the papers going to be publsihed with an ISBN oder DOI?
