Ahead of the 8th International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference (8th iYGEC) in Graz, Austria, the ISSMGE Young Members Presidential Group (YMPG) will hold its first-ever in-person liaison meeting, creating an opportunity for Young Member representatives to meet and connect outside the Societys usual online setting.

The meeting will take place on 11 June 2026 at 2:00 PM at Kaisers Smoked BBQ, Kaiser Franz Josef Platz, Graz.

This first in-person meeting is intended to be relatively informal and will provide a valuable opportunity for liaisons to get to know one another, exchange experiences, and discuss the activities and development of their respective Young Members Groups / Young Professional Groups.

Bringing representatives together in person for the first time marks an important step in strengthening communication and collaboration across the international Young Members network. It will also serve as a useful opportunity to connect ahead of the technical and social activities of the 8th iYGEC.

The YMPG would be very pleased to see as many representatives as possible joining this first in-person gathering and taking the opportunity to connect with colleagues from other member societies.

If a liaison is unable to attend, they are encouraged to see whether another representative from their country may be able to participate in their place.
