The ISSMGE has grown from around 200 participants at its first conference at Harvard, USA (1936) to today representing 90 Member Societies with an estimated 40,000 members. This growth is due to strong leadership, support, and the efforts of many in the geotechnical community. The global geotechnical community now thrives in a collaborative and encouraging environment, fostering advances in geotechnical engineering.
We celebrate our geotechnical communitys accomplishments in a dedicated website for the Heritage Time Capsule (HTC) project: https://htc.issmge.org.
The ISSMGE HTC project has launched a 2025 discoverer report prize competition to encourage young, emerging and established geotechnical enthusiasts to learn about the past, reflect on the present, and consider the future: https://lnkd.in/gg5Hgh-d
We urge ISSMGE Member Societies, Technical Committees, Corporate Associates, Past Presidents and Key Persons to actively participate by encouraging their members to join the prize competition, highlighting to the broader community contributions from various ISSMGE groups.
