As part of the ongoing series of updates published in the YMPG News section to highlight young member initiatives from ISSMGE societies around the world, the Young Professional Group of the French Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering recently shared news from France.
The 13th French National Symposium on Geotechnics and Geological Engineering (JNGG 2026) was held in Grenoble, France, from 7 to 10 April 2026.
On this occasion, the Young Professional Group organized a networking event for young professionals attending the symposium. The event included small games and quizzes and provided an opportunity to present the activities of the Young Members Group, while also encouraging interaction with young professionals from other scientific associations.
The initiative offered a valuable setting for exchange and connection among early-career participants and contributed to strengthening the visibility of young professional activities within the French geotechnical community.
Through initiatives such as this, young professionals are not only building stronger national connections, but also helping reinforce the broader international Young Members network within ISSMGE. The YMPG is pleased to continue sharing updates from member societies worldwide and looks forward to further contributions from France and other Young Member groups across the global geotechnical community.
