Description
The construction of the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train project depends fundamentally on three aspects: the topographic conditions, the hydrological conditions and the geological-geotechnical conditions. This article shows the process and the results of the geomechanical characterization of a selected site for the construction of the 4.7 km bi-tunnel, which is part of said Project. After entering the geological condition of the site, the procedure performed to define the geomechanical properties of heterogeneous materials is stated, evidencing the importance of recognizing and generating a collection of field information on the geotechnical characteristics of rock masses located in the galleries of the bi-tunnel, in which the intact rock is not representative of the mass in its entirety, data that will be of importance in the information generated on the stability and treatments that must be placed for the excavations in the galleries that make up the bi-tunnel
