On behalf of the organizing committee, I am pleased to announce that the 2024 Purdue Geotechnical Society Workshop and the 20th G.A. Leonards Lecture, an in-person event, will take place on Friday, April 12th, on the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University.

The theme for the workshop is Geotechnics of Dams. It aligns with the subject of the Leonards Lecture, Seismic Design Considerations for Tailings Storage Facilities, which will be given by Professor Jonathan D. Bray of the University of California, Berkeley. For his outstanding contributions to geotechnical and earthquake engineering research, education and practice, Professor Bray has been recognized as a leader of our profession, and we are thrilled that he has accepted our invitation to give the Leonards Lecture.

The workshop will consist in a full day of technical presentations and discussions including Keynote Lectures by Dr. Georgette Hlepas, Principal Geotechnical Engineer for the US Army Corps of Engineers, and Professor Timothy Stark of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The Leonards Lecture will be followed by a reception and dinner.

Attached are the Call for Presentations with more detailed information and the Abstract Submission Form (no proceedings papers will be required). Please respond to this call by February 12, 2024. See details in next posting of Call for Presentations or visit https://engineering.purdue.edu/PGS

We are working on putting together a great program for the 20th edition of our geotechnical Spring event and hope you will be able to participate.
