We are writing this article today to inform you of some upcoming changes to gINT product support.
Launched in 1986, gINT became the market standard borehole log production application across the globe. It is, however, a generation of software architecture that cannot be future-proofed for modern operating systems or manage ever-increasing data volumes. Therefore, Seequent has made the difficult decision to begin phasing out support for gINT and instead advance OpenGround, a modern cloud-based solution for ground investigation data management and borehole log production.
To support your transition to the cloud, Seequent has developed a migration path timeline that gives you confidence in our product direction and provides you with ample time to adopt the OpenGround solution.
- Effective January 1, 2023, you will continue to have 12 months of your usual product support. We will be working diligently to implement priority gINT workflows and assist you in migrating to our OpenGround platform.
- Beginning January 1, 2024, gINT will enter Expiring Support status. For the next 24 months, you can continue to make routine service requests, access software downloads, and receive critical security software updates.
- Finally, in January 2026, gINT will enter Support Discontinued status, at which point you can continue to use the product but will receive no further support or updates.
We are confident you will find OpenGround to be a high-quality future replacement for gINT that brings a series of new capabilities to your workflows, made possible by cloud-based technology.

The evolution of OpenGround: Cloud-based data management
Launched in 2018, OpenGround is a secure, enterprise geotechnical data collaboration platform. It enables connected digital workflows throughout every stage of the ground investigation lifecycle, from desk study, onsite data capture and report production, through to geotechnical analysis, geological modelling, and engineering design integration. As the successor to gINT, OpenGround already has over 11,000 users, is growing rapidly, and manages data in the cloud for more than 2.4 million exploratory locations.
