Environmental specialists across Australia are gearing up for one of the sectors most anticipated biennial events, the Goldfields Environmental Management Group (GEMG) Conference, taking place from 79 May 2025 at the Goldfields Arts Centre in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The GEMG Conference 2025 boasts a robust program of 38 presentations, tours, and networking functions across three days. Attendees will explore emerging trends in environmental science, from vegetation rehabilitation and innovative remote sensing techniques to Indigenous land management and evolving regulatory frameworks.

Among the standout sessions are:

Water, Water Everywhere, but Not a Drop to Drink? by M. Guggenmos (Wai Consulting), tackling strategic mine site water planning;

Vegetation and Growth Media Trials for Enhanced Mine Site Rehabilitation by G. Taki and A. Bennett (Okane Consultants);

Hyperspectral Remote Sensing: The Next Step in Environmental Monitoring? by M. Broomhall (Ecoene); and

Aboriginal Businesses Engaging Other Aboriginal Businesses by G. Todd and B. Latimore (Buru Rehab), promoting collaboration in environmental restoration.

The conference starts with a welcome function on Tuesday, 6 May. It runs until Friday, 9 May, and includes activities such as the popular Super Pit Mine Tour and the Two-Up fundraiser supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
